Below you can find a healthy selection of pre-match stats to chew over before kick-off, courtesy of Opta.

HEAD TO HEADS

This is the 165th Derby d'Italia in Serie A: the Bianconeri have the upper hand with 78 wins versus Inter’s 45 and 41 draws.

Juventus are unbeaten in five league matches against Inter, having won three and drawn two.

There have been 16 goalless draws in Serie between these two sides. The last one was at the Meazza in 2010.

In each of the last six league meetings between Inter and Juventus both sides have scored at least one goal.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS IN MILAN

Juventus haven’t lost away to Inter since April 2010 (W3, D2).

The Nerazzurri have scored in 14 of their last 15 games with Juventus at San Siro but have only won three times in that period, drawing six and losing six.

FORM

Inter have twice as many points as Juventus (16 vs 8) - their biggest lead over their Turin rivals after seven games since 1955/56 (an 11-point advantage calculating three points for a win).

Roberto Mancini’s men have scored in their last 11 Serie A outings - a scoring run they last managed in 2010/11. Last time out the Nerazzurri conceded four goals at home to Fiorentina, having previously kept three clean sheets in consecutive 1-0 home wins.

Two wins and two draws is Juventus’ worst return from their first seven league games since 1980/81 (seven points from seven games), when they nonetheless went on to win the title.

The Bianconeri have conceded eight goals in their opening seven games. Last season they conceded eight after 17 Serie A fixtures.

GENERAL STATISTICS

Juventus have had the most attempts on goal in Serie A (137 including saves), but only 36 have been on target. As a result, the Bianconeri have the second-worst accuracy rate (34%) and the third-worst conversion rate (8.5%).

Allegri's men have conceded just 61 scoring chances, a statistic which only Fiorentina can better with 56, and are letting in goals at a rate of one strike every 7.6 attempts. In contrast, Inter concede one goal every 13.8 attempts.

Along with Fiorentina and Frosinone, Inter are the only Serie A outfit not to have scored a headed goal so far this season.

Neither Inter, Juventus nor Verona have hit the back of the net in the first 30 minutes of play this campaign. Only Chievo Verona and Sassuolo (two) have let in fewer goals in the second half than the Nerazzurri (three).

Inter have conceded the fewest goals from set pieces in Serie A so far, with only one penalty being struck past Samir Handanovic in goal.

Juventus have found themselves trailing on the scoreboard three times already in 2015/16: that happened nine times throughout the whole of last year.

Nerazzurri and Fiorentina are the only two teams not to have had an Italian player hit the back of the net.

The Bianconeri have been awarded three penalties (scoring them all) so far at the beginning of this campaign: only Fiorentina can match this.

Juventus have rotated their squad the most this season, using 26 different players. No Bianconeri player has started every game thus far.

PLAYER FOCUS

Mauro Icardi has scored six times in five Serie A matches against the Old Lady. Going back to January 2013, the best any other player has managed against the Bianconeri is three. The Argentine striker has also had a hand in three of the last four strikes from the Nerazzurri (two goals and one assist).

Rodrigo Palacio has yet to register a goal or an assist in the six games he's contested in the top division this term. Last season he had to wait 14 matches to see the net bulge, before going on to pick up eight strikes and five assists.

Stevan Jovetic made his bow in Serie A in Fiorentina 1-1 Juventus in August 2008. Felipe Melo, playing for the Viola, also made his debut in the Italian league in that game, picking up a red card in the 83rd minute.

Felipe Melo later spent two years in Turin, playing 58 times and scoring four goals in Serie A from 2009-2011.

Claudio Marchisio has hit the back of the net three times in 11 encounters with the Nerazzurri in the top league, including last time out in May.

Giorgio Chiellini also notched his last goal in Serie A against Inter back in February 2014. The defender hasn't scored in 46 league games.

Juan Cuadrado has struck twice in the last two Serie A matches he's contested against Inter, back when he was wearing a Viola shirt. The Colombian has also had most success in beating opponents one-on-one out of players to have played at least 90 minutes so far in 2015/16 (once every 18 attempts).

COACHES

Roberto Mancini hasn’t managed to beat Juventus at home in the Inter dugout yet (W1, D3). His only home league victory against the Bianconeri as a coach came while he was in charge of Lazio (2-0 in December 2003).

Today is Massimiliano Allegri’s 250th match in charge of a top-flight club (W128, D60, L61).

The only two previous meetings between these two coaches took place last season: a 1-1 draw at Juventus Stadium followed by a 1-2 victory for the Bianconeri at the Meazza.

Last May Allegri beat Inter away in Serie A for the second time in his coaching career. His first was a 1-0 win with AC Milan in November 2010.

REFEREE AND DISCIPLINE

Inter have committed the third fewest fouls (97) in Serie A this term and collected the fourth fewest bookings (21).

Paolo Valeri is officiating his 114th top-flight fixture today in his ninth season as a Serie A referee.

Juventus have won the last four league games when Valeri has refereed them. They have kept clean sheets in each of their last three away games with Valeri in charge (including Genoa 0-2 Juventus this season).

Valeri was the man with the whistle when Sampdoria recorded a famous 1-2 victory at Juventus Stadium in January 2013. That day Mauro Icardi scored his first - and so far only - brace against the Bianconeri.

The Rome-based referee last oversaw proceedings between these two sides in February 2011 when Juventus triumphed 1-0 thanks to a goal by Alessandro Matri.

Inter are the team that Paolo Valeri has awarded the most penalties against: nine, at least five more than any other Serie A outfit.

Juventus, on the other hand, have been given five spot kicks by Valeri - more than any other Serie A team.

Inter have lost both their games with Valeri officiating in 2015 (away to Sassuolo and Sampdoria).
