RECOBA: "I DON'T THINK INTER HAVE BEEN FAVOURED BY REFEREEING DECISIONS."

MILAN - Inter striker Alvaro Recoba spoke about the referees on football programme Domenica Sportiva last night.

He said, "I don't think Inter have been favoured by refereeing decisions so far. Today [yesterday] the foul that led to the penalty was probably outside the area. A referee has to have the personality to shoulder responsibility for his own actions. We're here talking about a person who isn't present, a referee must be able to defend himself. There's more respect for referees in international matches. I played for Venezia and the smaller clubs have more difficulties. It's taken for granted that the referee is conditioned depending on the match. The penalty given to Bologna [in Bologna vs. Atalanta] probably wouldn't have been given in Bergamo."
