INTER CAMPUS: WITH CHILDREN OF SAO PAULO AND RIO DE JANEIRO

A new mission in Brazil: training, lessons, tours and fun in the favelas of the two cities

MILAN – The Inter Campus delegation landed in Sao Paulo with a bag full of Nerazzurri shirts and shorts for the kids, and a schedule chock full of important appointments.

The first one dealt with meeting all the coaches and instructors from the faraway base of Pititinga. They arrived in San Paolo to attend the refresher course, led by our coaches Juri Monzani and Gabriele Raspelli.

Once they arrived at the headquarters of the project in San Miguel Paulista (in greater Sao Paulo), the activities with the children began immediately with 6 training sessions that were carried out on a day that involved all the participants.

Meanwhile, manager Aldo Montinaro checked up on things in the nearby poverty-stricken communities of Agua Vermelha and Santo Antonio with Don Vincenzo Frisullo and Hildebrando Goncalves Rodriguez to assess the possibilities of developing activities there.

The days in Sao Paulo consisted of training demonstrations and lectures aimed at local coaches with all 120 children of the project.

Following this, the delegation moved to the magical city of Rio de Janeiro. Things are not so magical, however, for the children of the Maré district (which consists of no less than 17 favelas), who continue to live in very difficult economic and social conditions.

The handing out of the new shirts, the daily workouts, the trips to the beach (always with the ball, of course!) involved all the children, who responded with excitement and joy to the coaches’ activities – all of which made this a very special mission.
