APPIANO GENTILE – Ezequiel Schelotto spoke to Inter Channel during 'Radio Appiano' the day after his goal against AC Milan: "I wasn't expecting to score in the derby, I couldn't get to sleep last night! It happened to me and obviously I'm delighted. I thank everyone, especially my family and my girlfriend. And these amazing fans. It was exciting enough just to set foot on the pitch, but then to score three minutes after coming on was the icing on the cake. I could have had a brace? Yes, I nearly got a brace! Unfortunately we weren't able to add the second, but a point in the derby is still a good result."
Now thoughts turn to Catania, one of Schelotto's former clubs: "It's a key match in terms of the Champions League spots. They've just won, whereas we're going there after an important draw with AC Milan. We know we'll be up against an excellent Catania side but we've got what it takes to do well there. We want the three points, they're fundamental."
In the meantime, Schelotto has answered his critics with his performance yesterday: "I also expected to do a bit better against Siena on my debut. There was a reason for it. Obviously I knew I'd given a lot but I hadn't played for months and I wasn't in great physical shape. Stramaccioni and the coaching staff waited for me, encouraging me in training every day, and then the goal came against Milan. That's football for you - everything went magnificently yesterday. It's helped me to get over my debut in Siena. I'm proud to be wearing this shirt and also that Inter and the president have confidence in me. I want to prove that I'm good enough to play for this club. There are lots of games left and I can do better still."The Argentine was then asked about his next goal. "Soon hopefully! But I prefer to win even if I don't score myself. Yesterday it happened to me and maybe it will be someone else next Sunday and I'll be delighted all the same."
