Nine Nerazzurri on target

Nine different Inter players (Cruz, Adriano, Martins, Cambiasso, Cordoba, Materazzi, Recoba, Samuel and Stankovic) have scored in the first 8 rounds of the Serie A championship - more than any other team.

Cruz: off the bench and in the net

Julio Cruz has come off the Inter bench to score four goals this season. No other team has scored as many goals with substitutes.

Inter invincible at home

At home, Inter's invincibility is 515 minutes long (last 65 minutes of UCL qualifying return against Shakhtar Donetsk after Elano's 25th-minute goal, plus entire league matches against Treviso, Lecce and Fiorentina, and entire Champions League Matchday 2 tie with Rangers). Including just Serie A matches, Inter haven't let in a goal for 723 minutes (last 3 minutes of Inter 3-2 Fiorentina last 20 March after Cordoba's 87th- minute own goal plus entire matches against Cagliari, Siena, Livorno and Reggina last term and Treviso, Lecce, Fiorentina and Livorno this season).

Inter two away from 4000th Serie A goal

At Udine on Sunday Julio Cruz scored Inter's 3988th goal in the one- division Serie A championship. The Nerazzurri are therefore two goals away from a milestone 4000, a number reached and surpassed only by Juventus. Inter's first goal in the one-division Serie A (from 1929 onwards) was scored by Enrico Rivolta in the 31st minute of Livorno 1-2 Inter on 6 October 1929. Goal number 1000 was Nyers' second in a 4-0 win at Sampdoria on 9 January 1949. Jair had the honour of scoring Inter's 2000th goal, the Nerazzurri's first in a 4-0 home win against Messina on 5 April 1964. Matteoli scored the Nerazzurri's 3000th league goal since 1929, netting the first in a 2-1 victory over Empoli in Milan on 18 January 1987.

Recoba & goals against Roma

Alvaro Recoba (78 goals in competitive matches in Italy), has put 6 past Roma, Bologna and Lecce. Against the Giallorossi El Chino scored in Venezia-Roma (1998/99 Serie A), in Inter-Roma (2000/01 Serie A), twice in Inter-Roma (2001/02 Serie A), in Inter-Roma (2002/03 Serie A) and in Roma-Inter (2004/05 Serie A).

Spalletti one away from 100th draw as coach

Sunday's Rome derby draw was Luciano Spalletti's 99th since becoming a coach. Tuscany native Spalletti has notched 54 stalemates in the Serie A, 18 in the Serie B, 13 in the Serie C1, 4 in the Coppa Italia, 1 in Europe and 1 in other competitions. Spalletti's first draw was Empoli 0-0 Spal, a Serie C1 match played on 1 May 1994.

No Roma away goal for 270'

The last time the Giallorossi scored on the road was last 28 August when Nonda scored in the 90th minute of Roma's 3-0 win at Roma. Spalletti's men are without a goal from their successive three away matches against Livorno, Cagliari and Empoli.

Happy birthday Chivu

Born in Resita, Romania on 26 October 1980, Roma defender Christian Chivu celebrates his 25th birthday on Wednesday.

MILAN - Inter were beaten 3-2 by Roma at the Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday evening in a match that had a bit of everything.

Adriano scored his first league goals since the season opener against Treviso to give Inter a glimmer of hope after Roma stormed into a 3-0 lead.

Giallorossi striker Vincenzo Montella met Taddei's ball in from the left then poked past Julio Cesar from close range to give Roma the lead on 12 minutes.

Cambiasso saw his header from Veron's deflected shot ruled out for offside as the Nerazzurri pushed for an equaliser.

In a five-minute frenzy Mancini drove a diagonal shot on to the far post then Cruz headed a Recoba cross against the bar before Francesco Totti ran half the pitch then chipped Julio Cesar from 20 yards.

Roberto Mancini brought on Adriano for Ze Maria at the start of the second half, but the new 4-3-3 formation hardly had time to experiment as Totti converted a controversially awarded penalty to make it 3-0.

Adriano pulled one back with a magnificent curling free kick that found the top right corner, then reduced the deficit again with a shot into an open goal after Doni dropped a catch.

The Brazilian headed wide a golden opportunity to bring the sides level in a Nerazzurri-dominated final period.

In the third minute of added time Totti and Veron were dismissed for an exchange of headbutts and the Argentine is therefore ruled out of Saturday's trip to Genoa. Marco Materazzi also misses the Samp clash as he was already on a caution before his yellow card against Roma.
