SPALLETTI: "WE DIDN'T MAKE THE MOST OF THE NUMBER OF CHANCES CREATED"

The Nerazzurri Coach after the draw with Torino: "We made more mistakes than usual and we were forced to settle for a point"

MILAN – “The draw leaves something of a bitter taste in the mouth, we made some mistakes where we usually manage things in a different way,” said Luciano Spalletti after Inter 1-1 Torino in Serie A’s lunchtime kick-off.

“We had an opponent on our level in front of us, a team of substance,” the Coach continued. “Torino played their game and came out in what was a compelling match. We made some more mistakes than usual and because of this we are forced to settle for a point. In any case, we were able to respond and we gave a final push. However, at times we weren’t able to capitalise on the number of chances created. Our professional players did however do what they had to do.”

With Vecino striking the crossbar late on against Torino today, Inter are now in second as the team to have hit the woodwork on most occasions this season. “We need to accept it. Luck wasn’t really with Matias. We did well to get ourselves back into what was a tricky situation.” As for his thoughts on individuals, Spalletti had this to say: “Icardi? He did what he has to do and he put in a great performance. Despite suffering a knock in the first half, I wanted to keep him out on the pitch right until the very end because it is not easy to give up on him. Eder? He has just extended his contract because he is fundamental for us. He is a great professional and he can play in at least three positions.”
