MORATTI: "INTER, BETTER THAN I HAD THOUGHT"

"We started with many new players. We'll see if our possibilities are higher than those of the others"

MILAN - (ANSA) Inter president Massimo Moratti took stock of the situation regarding the Nerazzurri’s season. Upon arriving at the Pirelli Store in Milan, where he attended the presentation of a new line of clothing, he stated that he hoped the team would continue on the same path that they have followed in this part of the season. "The next two games? I hope the next six months go well! Joking apart, we don’t have any easy matches, also because there’s the Coppa Italia to face," began Moratti. "We began in a situation in which everything was new, from the players to the coach. Given the high percentage of new elements, we’ve done better than I thought we would. I’d say we’re doing what is within our possibilities. We’ll have to see at the end whether they are superior to those of the other teams."

Taking action during the January transfer market is not outside the realm of possibility, but the Inter president denied that such an operation would depend on the Sneijder situation. "Nothing depends on this. I believe we’ll move forward with particular attention being paid to the club’s economic situation," stated Moratti, who then commented on the performance of another key player on the team, Antonio Cassano. "He’s an artist, and when there’s an artist at work anything is possible. What pleases me, in addition to what he does on the field, is that he seems well integrated, which is good for both us and him." There was also praise for Stramaccioni ("These are the results, which means that his management is good and thorough") and a final thought on the return of Antonio Conte to the bench. "Everyone was curious to know whether his return could improve the team, so we’ll see if it happens. However, Juventus were already doing very well," said Moratti.
