STRAMACCIONI: "FIORENTINA, SERIE A'S FORM SIDE"

"Montella is a friend first and then a colleague. I knew he'd be a success. He deserves all the praise he gets"

APPIANO GENTILE – One game at a time, and quite rightly too. So naturally all the questions for Stramaccioni in today's press conference were about Fiorentina. Are they the team that has impressed you most? The coach replied: "I'm not sure I could say that because at the moment I think the league table is a fair reflection of what we've seen in the opening five games, with Juve and Napoli top. But after all the changes they've made at Fiorentina they're producing some real quality football. They keep hold of the ball well, they're in good shape and highly motived. They're probably the most in-form side in Serie A at the moment."

What about their coach? "Vincenzo is first of all a friend of mine away from the pitch," Stramaccioni explained. "Then he's a fellow coach. I have nothing but good things to say about him. I had no doubt he would be a success, but if I'm completely honest he's doing even better than I imagined. He deserves all the praise he's getting."

The Nerazzurri coach was also asked whether his team selection might take into account the presence of a player like Jovetic: "I'm wary of Fiorentina and of the form they're in at the moment, but I think Inter should always take their own game to the opposition. You must respect the other team but not change your own players because of one of your opponents, not for a single player, no. Fiorentina can expect an Inter side ready to ask questions of them, one that will go out there to win the game."
