STATS: 5 STRAIGHT AWAY WINS, FIRST TIME IN 5 YEARS

Two wins in the Europa League and three in Serie A: first time since 2007/08. And all with clean sheets

MILAN - (statistics courtesy of Football Data) Yesterday's win over Chievo in Verona makes it now 5 consecutive wins on the road for the Nerazzurri. The first victories on this winning run came in the Europa League: the 3rd qualifying round first leg away at Hajduk Split (3-0 on 2 August) and against Vaslui in Piatra Neamt in the play-off first leg (2-0 on 23 August). The Nerazzurri followed that up with 3 straight league victories away from the San Siro, against Pescara in the opening week of the season (3-0 at the Stadio Cornacchia on 26 August), Torino (2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico on 16 September) and Chievo (2-0 at the Stadio Bentegodi on 26 September).

This equals Inter's run between December 2007 and January 2008 when - with Mancini at the helm - they won 3 away games in the league against Fiorentina (2-0 on 2 December), Cagliari (2-0 on 16 December) and Siena (3-2 on 13 January) with victories in between in the Champions League (1-0 in Eindhoven against PSV) and Coppa Italia (4-1 against Reggina on 19 December). The game which ended the sequence was against Udinese at the Stadio Friuli on 27 January 2008, with the score 0-0 at the final whistle.

It is 9 years meanwhile since Inter have gone five away games without conceding as they have now. Under Hector Cuper the Nerazzurri recorded 5 consecutive clean sheets on the road between May and September 2003, winning 3 (2-0 over Modena, 1-0 at Siena and 3-0 against Arsenal in the Champions League) and recording two draws (both obviously 0-0, against AC Milan in the Champions League in the game which started the run and against Udinese, the final match in the sequence). The Nerazzurri's backline was finally breached on the road at Brescia in a 2-2 draw on 18 October 2003.
