APPIANO GENTILE – Inter face Siena tomorrow in what will be Andrea Stramaccioni's third match in charge of the first team, in Week 32 of the 2011/12 season. The first topic in the pre-match press conference was the team the Nerazzurri will be hosting tomorrow, with the coach explaining that "for Siena this has been a great season as Sannino and his players have done a magnificent job. Siena are a well-drilled unit and they have caused problems for everyone. They come here on the back of an unbeaten run and they are perfectly capable of causing us problems too. We must be focused and very careful."
So what team does Stramaccioni intend to put out against Siena? Is he thinking of rotating his men? "In the situation we're in I don't think I can be thinking about rotation as such. We have to assess the form and fitness of those who have played and look at how things have gone in training in the last few days. For sure we have to field the best Inter side possible."
Could the best Inter side include Alvarez? "He's been ok for a week now – touch wood – and professor Combi and the physios have done a great job. He's been training with the rest of the group and I think he's ready. He's another option we have."
As he prepares for his third match as first-team coach, Stramaccioni also spoke about he how he thinks the players have responded so far: "Positively because I really do think the response has been positive. I try to give my all, my contribution, and now I feel I'm on the same wavelength as these players. In Trieste we did partially well; now we're hoping to be completely satisfied tomorrow evening after the game, but Siena are awkward opponents so it won't be easy."
