SAMADEN: "A SHAME, BUT OUR HEADS ARE HIGH"

"I can't say anything to the lads. They battled and they were united. We just lacked luck"

QUARRATA (Pistoia) - Roberto Samaden, the head of the Nerazzurri's academy, commented to Inter Channel after the Primavera's elimination from the 64th edition of the Viareggio Tournament: "Something of note is the fact that, in our last games played in Viareggio, Inter have lost just once in 90 minutes. Last year we were lucky against Atalanta. When you get this far everything is tied to luck. It's really a shame because we created several scoring chances and we let in a goal on their one counterattack. All credit to Parma who played their match. They defended and made use of their weapons," stated Samaden.

One positive note was that of the Nerazzurri lads on loan at Parma who made their presence felt with positive performances. Samaden stated: "Monachello and Galimberti have been putting in very good performances. We knew that. Mella was injured, but when he returns we're convinced he'll do his part. Parma with Francesco Palmeri [head of their youth academy] are doing a great job. All of their teams are competitive. As for us, we have several players who first played wearing the colours of this club."

Then the discussion went back to the analysis of the match and the Inter director had this to say: "We knew we had a difficult task. We didn't end up with the easiest draw and we played a match that wasn't the prettiest, which was also complicated a bit by the wind and a pitch that wasn't exactly in perfect condition. But that's Viareggio for you. And when we've won we've also gone through in this way. So I really can't say anything to these lads who did well and were united. We came out of a tough group, and to go far here in Viareggio you also need a bit of luck that perhaps we didn't have today. We have to do well to start again. So after a few days of rest we have to pick up again and re-start in the league to win a spot in the final eight. At the end of March we have our European adventure – the finals of the NextGen Series – and we want to do well there," Samaden concluded.
