RANIERI: "AFTER SNEIJDER, FORLAN AND STANKOVIC"

"Inter have a fantastic squad. When we have all our champions fully fit, we can be more daring"

APPIANO GENTILE – "I don't think I've ever waited for a referee in the parking lot," joked Claudio Ranieri when asked about a parallel between himself and José Mourinho, who recorded league eight wins on the trot.

On the possibility of fielding a more attack-minded Inter now that the team has found the right balance, the coach explained: "I've brought Sneijder back in slowly and he's slotting into the side's mechanism well. I think that as soon as Forlan is fit, we can be more daring. Then we'll see how much we can improve. I'm trying to scrape together as many points as possible, to see if we can then try something more daring. We have the Champions League coming up and we have to go into that with the squad in top shape. Getting Sneijder but also Forlan, Chivu and Sneijder back. Inter have a fantastic squad. We started late but we're determined to catch up and we mustn't stray from this path we're on. We're doing well we could be doing even better. I hope the practical approach we've had up until now can continue with the added finesse of these champions, who can help take us up another level, which is what we need right now."

Quizzed about the tension displayed by Wesley Sneijder in the first half of the Coppa Italia match in Naples, Ranieri said: "Yes, he was a bit worked up in the first half, he committed a bad foul, but you'll have noticed that he was a lot calmer in the second half and showed what he's capable of. I have complete confidence in Sneijder: he is serene and determined to do well."

Ranieri was giving nothing away regarding the transfer market: "We have to wait for these four days to pass and the end of the transfer window, then we'll see if anyone comes or leaves, if anything happens. All I expect is to work with these lads and try to get the most out of them. I think that's the main task of every coach."
