RANIERI: "MORATTI, MILAN, DESTINY AND ME"

Tune in to channel 232 for Prima Serata with Caldara and the Nerazzurri coach

APPIANO GENTILE – The waiting is over: Claudio Ranieri is here on Inter Channel 232 on Sky Sport Italia and he begins by talking on Prima Serata about his first meeting with president Moratti: "We had met beforehand, when I left Napoli and he wasn't president yet. It was the derby: AC Milan v Inter and we were sitting next to each other, when he said: "This is your stadium," and I replied, "I think it's more your stadium and I hope you do as well as your father did here. He got there before me, then I arrived and I said to him: 'It certainly took you a while, eh?'..."

Ranieri has a relationship with president Moratti and with all of the club that is growing day by day, and it's a relationship he believes in because, as he says, "as soon as I sign that this is my home it becomes everything I believe in. There is a president and a club who give you guidelines, and it is then up to the coach to follow them and ensure that the players follow those same guidelines. In this case we can talk about a train which is going in the same direction. If something is wrong I go directly to discuss it with my president, never to the press, and that's what I've always been taught."

Ranieri has also built up a good understanding with the Inter fans in a short period of time and he tries to explain why: "Milan is known as the city where work is considered important. I have always worked hard in my life and I thought they might have appreciated me more, seeing the love and the dedication that I put into my work and, evidently, whatever I pass on to the players finally reaches the fans. The results, of course, play a big part too..."

Finally to those who tell Ranieri they're sure he will play a part in the history books at Inter, the Nerazzurri coach had this to say: "I certainly hope so. I know I'm the coach of a prestigious club. You all know that I wasn't an Inter fan; I always supported Roma as a child. However one thing I can tell you in all honesty is that I don't remember the names of the whole team who played against Lecce last night, but there is one team I know by heart: Sarti, Burgnich, Facchetti, Bedin, Guarnieri, Picchi, Jair, Mazzola, Peirò, Suarez, Corso and, in addition to them, I'm here today thanks to Helenio Herrera. He spotted me in trials for Roma, so he's the man I have to thank for being here today. Has Inter always been my destiny? At this stage, maybe the answer is yes..."
