Zeman v Stramaccioni

Zdenek Zeman and Andrea Stramaccioni are set to pit their wits against each other for the third time, with the Czech tactician unbeaten in previous encounters (one win and one draw). The teams of both coaches scored in both previous games: in total, four for Zeman and two for Stramaccioni.

Zeman and Inter

Three wins, 10 draws and 11 defeats. That's Zdenek Zeman's record against Inter in 24 previous games. He last tasted success against the Nerazzurri on 14 May 1995: a Serie A match that ended Lazio 4-1 Inter.

Andrea De Marco (Chiavari) to officiate

Tonight's referee is Andrea De Marco from Chiavari refereeing section. In previous matches with the Giallorossi, Roma have won 6, drawn 2 and lost 3; when De Marco has taken charge of the Nerazzurri, Inter have won 10, drawn 3 and lost 2.

Strama seeking first win as an ex

Andrea Stramaccioni is facing his former club for the third time, having worked in the Giallorossi youth academy between 2005/06 and 2010/11. The Nerazzurri coach has had one defeat and one draw against his former employers so far.

Overall record between Roma and Inter

In the 89 matches played between Roma and Inter in the capital, the Giallorossi have recorded 37 wins, with 23 draws and 29 Nerazzurri victories. Overall there have been 188 meetings between these two sides: Inter have come out on top on 84 occasions, Roma 54 and there have been 50 draws.

One defeat in last 15 Coppa outings for Inter

Inter have lost just one of their last 15 Coppa Italia games, at the hands of Napoli (2-0 away) on 25 January 2012. The other 14 matches in this recent sequence have yielded 12 wins for Inter and two draws.

Roma v Inter: most common Coppa Italia final in the competition's history

Roma v Inter has been the most common Coppa Italia final since the competition was set up in 1922, with the two sides locking horns as finalists five times. Incredibly, all five of those meetings came in a six-year spell in the second half of the noughties. Inter won the first 'round' by lifting the cup in 2004/05, beating Roma 0-2 in the first leg away and 1-0 in the return at the Meazza. The Nerazzurri repeated the feat the following season, in 2005/06 (1-1 at the Olimpico, 3-1 in San Siro). Roma got their revenge 12 months later in the 2006/07 edition, with a 6-2 home win and a painless 2-1 defeat in Milan. The next season (2007/08) saw the same teams face off for the fourth consecutive year but under a new format: a single final was held in Rome. The Giallorossi won the game 2-1 to tie the series at 2-2. Two years passed and then the battle was resumed in 2009/10, with Inter emerging from the Stadio Olimpico victorious (0-1) on this occasion.

ROME - Roma have won the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg 2-1 over Inter. We won't know the outcome of the tie until 17 April however.

The Giallorossi took the lead after 13 minutes: Florenzi rose beautifully from a Piris cross to power home and open the scoring. Roma went close once again moments later but Ranocchia cleared well off the line from Totti. The hosts continued to pile forward with Inter under the cosh and on 33 minutes Roma doubled their lead: the goal again came from a header, this time from Destro. Inter managed to hit back though just before the interval when Cambiasso's quick free-kick found an alert Palacio who tucked it past Stekelenburg.

It was a more even contest after the break with Inter nearly drawing level on two occasions late on through substitute Alvarez. Neither goalkeeper was to be beaten however, leaving the tie nicely poised for the second leg on 17 April.
