Mancini v Tesser

Inter and Ascoli coaches Roberto Mancini and Attilio Tesser meet in a competitive fixture for the first time.

Inter on target in 23 consecutive Serie A home games

Since their goalless draw with Reggina at the Meazza on 29 May 2005, the Nerazzurri have scored in 23 consecutive Serie A matches at home, netting a total of 58 goals.

Inter prolific in first 15 mins

After nine rounds of Serie A matches, Inter are the most prolific team in the first quarter-hour periods of games, with 4 goals scored.

Inter's second-half carelessness

Ten of the twelve league goals let in by Inter so far this season (83.3% of the total) have come in second halves: 2 from 46'-60', 2 from 61'-75', and 6 from 76'-90'.

Inter only unbeaten side in A

Inter are the only team yet to lose a match in this season's Serie A championship. The Nerazzurri, first with Palermo after nine games, have won 6 and drawn 3.

Crespo prolific in November

According to the statistics Hernan Crespo is the most decisive player in the 2006/07 Serie A championship. The Argentine forward's goals in the victories over Roma, Chievo and AC Milan have won Inter 9 points. And the immediate future looks good for the Nerazzurri, as November is one of Crespo's two most prolific months of the footballing year. He has scored 17 of his 118 Italian goals in the eleventh calendar month, the same number as in April.

Only one Ascoli win in last 18 Serie A games

Empoli 1-2 Ascoli on 14 May 2006 was the Bianconeri's last top-flight victory. Ascoli have collected 8 draws and 9 defeats since then, and are the only Serie A team besides Chievo yet to win a league match this season.

Ascoli's 5 Serie A goals from 3 players

Bjelanovic, Delvecchio and Perrulli are the only three Ascoli players to have hit the target in the league this term. No other 2006/07 Serie A team has scored with so few players after nine rounds of matches. Ascoli have netted just five goals so far this season, conceding twelve.

Ascoli and yellow cards

Ascoli are the most 'booked' team after nine rounds of league matches. The Bianconeri have accumulated 32 yellow cards, an average of 3.5 per game.

Tesser's black November

Ascoli coach Attilio Tesser has a points per match average of just 1.05 in November games, with 3 wins, 11 draws and 5 defeats in the eleventh calendar month.

No penalties in Ascoli's favour

Ascoli are one of four 2006/07 Serie A teams yet to have been awarded a penalty after nine rounds of the championship. The other three are Fiorentina, Siena and Torino.

MILAN - Javier Zanetti scored his first goal for Inter since November 2002, and Cudini turned into his own net as the Nerazzurri beat Ascoli 2-0 to stay level with Palermo on top of the table and move seven points clear of Roma, who play Fiorentina in tonight's late game.

It was one-way traffic for much of the ninety at the Giuseppe Meazza as Inter dominated the Bianconeri from Italy's Marche region.

The offside flag twice denied Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the opening period before Patrick Vieira rose to send wide a glancing header from Maicon's whipped cross.

Ascoli produced two good chances in the first half, Giampà blazing over the bar before setting up Bjelanovic who was forced to shoot wide after Julio Cesar narrowed the angle.

The breakthrough came four minutes before the break when Javier Zanetti intercepted Crespo's cross-shot from an Ibrahimovic cut-back and slotted in from close range to score his first goal for Inter in almost four years.

Inter's second goal came from a counter attack eight minutes after the restart. Ibrahimovic made a powerful run to the edge of the box before sweeping wide to second-half sub Figo who crossed into the six-yard box where Cudini turned into his own net after beating Crespo to the ball.

Inter's best chance of a third fell to the Argentine forward who had a near-range shot from Figo's cross blocked by former Nerazzurri keeper Pagliuca.

Ascoli wasted a golden opportunity to reduce the arrears when referee Luca Banti pointed to the spot after Maicon handled the ball in the area, Julio Cesar pulling off a magnificent save from Fini to keep Inter's lead intact.

The Brazilian keeper then kept out a header from an unmarked Bjelanovic as the Nerazzurri defended their two-goal advantage until the final whistle.
