APPIANO GENTILE - After the first training session of the new season, Luciano, Karagounis, van der Meyde, Lamouchi, Helveg and Fadiga were presented to the media. Khalilou Fadiga answered journalists' questions following a brief introduction from Inter vice president Giacinto Facchetti:
Your transfer to Inter took us all a bit by surprise. Were negotiations ongoing or was it a sudden thing?
"In truth Inter had already shown an interest in me last year at the end of the World Cup in Japan. But my coach kept me at Auxerre. There was renewed interest this year and luckily an agreement was reached immediately."
You wear the number ten shirt for your national team. Is it also your position?
"The national team shirt number isn't indicative of my position on the pitch. I usually play on the wing or behind the strikers."
What do you know about Italian football?
"You're constantly under pressure but this also happens in other championships. I have a great opportunity ahead of me - that of playing in a very strong team, and I will try to take advantage of it."
