APPIANO GENTILE – After the first training session of the new season, Luciano, Karagounis, van der Meyde, Lamouchi, Helveg and Fadiga were presented to the media. Andy van der Meyde answered journalists' questions following a brief introduction from Inter vice president Giacinto Facchetti:
If you could eliminate a Scudetto rival who would you choose?
"No one in particular. The important thing will just be to play well and overcome every opponent."
Were you ever fearful negotiations with Inter might have stalled?
"In Holland I continuously followed my manager and I was always confident in a move to Inter."
Do you prefer to play on a certain wing or is it indifferent for you?
"I play where required. There's no preference, though when fielded on the right I manage to be more incisive when on the attack."
