MILAN - (Football Data) - Khalilou Fadiga was born on 30 December 1974 in Dakar, Senegal. After a season and no appearances at French Second Division side Red Star Paris, Fadiga transferred to Belgian team Liege where from 1994/95 to 1996/97 he played 74 matches and scored 7 goals. Fadiga then spent three seasons at Bruges, collecting 70 appearances and scoring 9 goals in the championship, and 9 appearances and 2 goals in European cup competitions.
The Senegalese midfielder returned to France in September 2000, playing 81 matches and scoring 14 goals for Auxerre in the championship, and with 10 European appearances and 1 goal to his credit.
Fadiga won the Belgian championship and Belgian Super Cup with Bruges in 1997/98, and lifted the Coupe de France with Auxerre last season.
With the Senegalese national team the left midfielder reached the quarter-final stage of last year's World Cup. After beating France in their opening match, holding Denmark and Uruguay to draws and defeating Sweden in the round of sixteen, Senegal were denied a semi-final place by Turkey. Fadiga played 4 matches at Korea/Japan 2002 and scored 1 goal, a penalty against Uruguay.
