MILAN - Last night was a special evening for Nerazzurri captain Javier Zanetti at the splendid Dal
Verme theatre in Milan. The Argentine defender was honoured with an 'Angel of the Year' award, a
recognition for Milanese citizens for charity work.
The fourth 'Angel of the Year' awards
were sponsored by the Lombardy Region, the Province and City Hall of Milan, AVIS (Associazione
Volontari Italiani del Sangue) and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organisation), and was organised by Milanese painter Stefano Festa, who donated paintings to the
winners in the eleven categories: Environment, Communication, Culture, Industry, Integration,
Fashion, Research, Safety, Social, Entertainment and Sport.
Javier Zanetti won the Sport category for charity work carried out through Fundacion
P.U.P.I, an organisation he runs with his wife to help Argentine children in need.
