SPALLETTI ANSWERS FANS' QUESTIONS ON FACEBOOK

The new Nerazzurri coach speaks to Inter fans live from the club's training camp in Brunico

BRUNICO - Luciano Spalletti proved he is in no doubt as to what Inter need for the upcoming season, as he fielded questions from Nerazzurri fans via social media.

"We will keep an eye on everything. We have a number of targets and there's plenty of competition but we'll try to put a smile on our fans' faces," began the new coach. "Some teams have already strengthened a great deal and the league season will be tough with so much quality around. Our aim is to compete for a place in next season's Champions League but there will be five, six or seven teams in the running all the way."

Despite only resuming work yesterday, Spalletti is in a hurry to put his ideas across to the Nerazzurri before their summer plans continue into China and onto Singapore. "Over the next few weeks I plan to fine-tune the ideas the team need to grasp to become a unit. The players need to keep their shape and make sure our spacing is right. They have to know how the opposition operate and how to best manage their energy levels over the course of 90 minutes. I want my team to set up the right way and starve the opposition of time and space. If we boss proceedings we'll make life easier for ourselves and have more scope to get forward and score goals. We need to play the Inter way. The lads have been very receptive ever since I walked into the dressing room. We have to allow them to show what they can do. If they display commitment, the rest will sort itself out."

Spalletti then dismissed the tactically intransigent notion that the centre backs need to play with a certain foot. "Both centre halves can be right- or left-footed, you don't necessarily need one of each. What matters is that they can use both feet to build from the back comfortably."

The new head coach then bid farewell to the fans saying "Thanks everyone, Amala!"
