MILAN – In today's Throwback Thursday we're winding the clock back two decades to one of the most memorable goals in Nerazzurri history: Youri Djorkaeff's jaw-droppingly good overhead kick against Roma.

On 5 January 1997 Roy Hodgson's Inter lined up against the Giallorossi with Pagliuca between the sticks, Zanetti, Paganin, Galante and Angloma in defence, Fresi, Sforza and Winter in midfield and Djorkaeff, Zamorano and Ganz up front.

Maurizio Ganz opened the scoring in the 11th minute but it was the Frenchman who produced the real moment of magic six minutes before the break – a goal so beautiful it would be immortalised on Inter season tickets the following year.

After Ganz's initial effort had been saved by Roma custodian Giorgio Sterchele, Fabio Petruzzi hoofed the ball high into the sky. As it dropped down outside the six-yard box on the right side of the area, Djorkaeff launched himself into the air and executed a stunning acrobatic finish that looped over the keeper from an acute angle and nestled into the net on the far side of the goal. 2-0 to Inter.

In the second period, Marco Delvecchio halved the deficit from the spot before Salvatore Fresi wrapped up a 3-1 win for the Nerazzurri.
