APPIANO GENTILE - Cristian Ansaldi was unveiled to the media earlier in Appiano Genitle, as he shared his first impressions since signing for the Nerazzurri.
The opening question was on the knock he sustained during training: "I'll have a scan on my left knee tomorrow but I'm quite relaxed about it. I don't think it's serious."
He then broached the subject of his move to Inter: "Yes, there were other teams interested in me but Inter have appealed to me ever since I was a kid, I've always maintained that. Some of that has to do with my fellow countrymen who have achieved great things here. When I got the call from Piero Ausilio and Javier Zanetti, I was in no doubt."
Ansaldi then gave an insight into the work the squad have done under new head coach Frank de Boer: "One of the first things we worked on is pressing from the front. The coach really likes to press high up the pitch and win the ball back immediately. Clearly a squad of players always feels the impact of a coaching change but I'm sure it will give us a positive shake-up. We'll do all we can to understand what De Boer wants from us and I'm sure things will go well."
On his targets going forward: "Inter have always competed for major silverware and we'll do everything we can to return to winning ways. As for the national team, I'm thinking first and foremost about Inter. I want to perform well here with this group of players. We'll chase the targets we've set ourselves then we'll see what happens. I don't have a preferred position, I've played both on the right and left during my career. I'll play wherever the coach needs me, I'm only thinking about giving 100% for the club."
Finally a word on his friend Mauro Icardi: "I'm sure he's clear in his mind over what he wants to do. He's the captain and he's fully aware of what his role entails. He will definitely stay."
