CORTI: "IMPORTANT TEST IN QATAR"

The Nerazzurri Under 17 Serie A e B coach was speaking after the Al Kass International Cup

MILAN – Back from Qatar where the Inter Under 17 Serie A e B team ended up in third spot at the Al Kass International Cup, Gianmario Corti has given an interview on the experience.

"It was an important experience in Doha," the Nerazzurri coach explained. "It was a positive adventure for us and for the boys who were able to come up against teams from every continent.

"The atmosphere was perfect and the facilities at the Aspire Academy sports ground were perfect."

Inter played well in the tournament despite the absence of three fundamental players in Zinho Vanheusden, Xian Emmers and Andrea Pinamonti, who have made the step up to Stefano Vecchi's Primavera.

"They are three young men with big futures ahead of them and the club is relying on them. They have good technique, tactical nous and physical attributes, so they've jumped up a category. Pinamonti has been here for a few years, while Vanheusden and Emmers are two young Belgian lads who have joined us this year."

With the Qatari adventure behind them, focus returns to league action: "We've got six games in 15 days, as we have to catch up on two games. There's an important period ahead of us to qualify for the final stages. The league is balanced and we're hoping to finish in the top three to avoid the play-offs."

Finally, a comment on the derby win last 29 November: "Winning 3-0 at home against AC Milan is always a pleasure. The boys get an emotional kick out of every game they play but it's obvious that you feel something extra when the derby comes around."
