APPIANO GENTILE – It was an afternoon to remember for over 200 children from five Inter Football Schools today as they marked the official start of the new season with a trip to the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti.
The first-team squad’s base opened its doors to the five, six and seven year olds from the Bresso, Accademia Inter, Enotria, Vicenza and Accademia Pavese Football Schools, who were accompanied by 36 instructors as they spent the afternoon in the heart of the Nerazzurri universe.
"The main objective is educational, to teach the youngsters to grow and interact with their peers," explained Football Schools technical director Massimo Giuriola.
While the children were busy doing their thing on football pitches usually reserved to their Nerazzurri heroes, the parents were able to watch on from the sidelines and enjoy the new hospitality area.
"We’ve seen huge participation. We put the kids through a warm-up, then those that wanted to went in goal and we got some mini matches underway," stated technical coordinator Gigi Bonanno.
Another of the aims of the afternoon was to promote sporting values, something clearly reflected in the introduction of the green card: an initiative to reward proper behaviour on the football field by recognising positive behaviour.
