AND THEN CAME JOSÉ

Unforgettable moments, faces and players

1/10

Mourinho's much talked-about arrival finally came to pass in the late afternoon on 3 June 2008. Italy was still a little drowsy following a long weekend, a first taste of summer. Tanned and sharply dressed, he was the only coach around able to make the headlines the following day not only in the world of football, but also fashion. The slightly loose tie around his neck created a story, his "Non sono un pirla" (I'm no mug) to a question from an English journalist on the transfer market instantly became infamous. This was the first demonstration of the force of his personality, so infectious that months later it would even charm the media traditionally pushing other clubs' agendas. "Zeru tituli" would even extend as far as the political sphere.

That first day, during which Inter got to know José Mourinho up close, was the dawn of change. For two seasons he would be a perfectionist, almost insatiable, and he would convince his players they were the best in the world.

From that first victory in the Super Cup against Roma in August, through to the incredible night in Madrid, he would be tireless and Nerazzurri forever.
