APPIANO GENTILE – "Tomorrow I'd like to see Inter get back to playing the way they did when they were performing at their best, playing good, balanced, intelligent football, attacking and defending well," Walter Mazzarri told reporters during his press conference ahead of Napoli v Inter.
He was then asked about a possible change of formation, to which he replied: "I've prepared the lads to play with a different formation in the past but never used it during the match. We'll see what happens tomorrow."
The coach went on to discuss the fitness and form of some of his players individually.
"Icardi will have a test tomorrow and we'll see how it goes. I'd like to be able to include him in the squad because we're short up top. How many minutes does he have in him? Not many, but he's been training well.
"Milito is fine but I think we'll play it safe with him and won't call him up until the Lazio game in January.
"Samuel has been training for three days now, but as I tell the medical staff, I take players into consideration from the moment they start training with the group again. In any case, our other five centre-backs are in better shape than he is at the moment.
"Give Cambiasso a rest? I don't think he's looked jaded. Considering the way we played on the whole against Parma, I think he did better than any of the others. I doubt I'll change him."
The coach then said of Rolando: "He's the only player who can play on the left of defence apart from Juan Jesus. I coached him in the past as well but compared to when we were at Napoli I'm able to rely on him more this season. I think he's capable of doing a job anywhere across the back line."
