MILAN – No sooner had he entered the wonderful 16th century villa that provided the setting for tonight's dinner with Inter's sponsors than Esteban Cambiasso stopped to speak to journalists at the entrance.
The first question was about the team's current form, to which Cuchu replied: "We haven't fallen that far behind because the other teams haven't done brilliantly either. We need to get going again because draws count for very little. At the moment we're trying to sort out what hasn't been working recently. We could have made up some points last weekend but we didn't manage it. Now we have to face Napoli, an excellent team, but I couldn't say if it's better or worse to be playing a big team at the moment. It's easier to analyse things like that after the game; you can come up with all sorts of conjecture before."
Cambiasso was asked to comment on what Massimo Moratti said about Inter's concentration problems being down to the change of ownership. "I don't think it's right for us to reflect on or judge what he's said. The president said that because he loves Inter, if ever that needed to be demonstrated... Let's start by taking the responsibility away from him; it wouldn't be fair on him otherwise."
Are the recent draws linked to the same issues? "I don't think so. The coach analyses each game separately but he'd have analysed them one by one even if we'd won them. There were positives against Parma, like the number of goals we scored. There are things to improve of course: we have to work on those areas and apply ourselves."
The Argentine concluded: "I don't think the fact Napoli have a big game to play tomorrow gives us an advantage. I won the treble not so long ago and I don't think playing midweek puts you at a disadvantage, otherwise I'd never have lasted ten years at Inter."
