MILAN – With the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza packed and the fans clearly moved,
Dejan Stankovic – after 326 games in which he proudly wore the blue and black –
saluted the Nerazzurri supporters. There was an eruption of applause for Deki,
and no one could hide their emotions: the bonds that the Drago created in his
nine years at Inter are something that will never be broken. Something that he
and all the supporters feel viscerally.
Before taking his lap around the pitch, he shared a warm embrace with president
Massimo Moratti in the stadium’s garage. Visibly moved, Dejan then received a
celebratory plaque from the president. Then from Ivan Cordoba, Javier Zanetti
and Mario Corso came a shirt bearing the words "Stankovic 326
grazie".
This Nerazzurri fan favourite was a true warrior, and one who played his part
in so many battles and great victories.
Once again, thank you Dejan. You shall forever remain in Nerazzurri hearts.
