MILAN – This afternoon Inter's Primavera team took on Udinese in their final match of the regular season, needing a point to qualify for the Final Eight as group winners. Daniele Bernazzani's side achieved it thanks to a 1-1 draw with all the action coming in the second half.
The Nerazzurri went ahead in the 50th minute as Candido released Alborno on the overlap, the Paraguayan sent a perfect cross into the box and Forte connected with a flying header. But just minutes later Dia Pape took advantage of the Nerazzurri rear guard's one and only lapse, collecting Vydra's chest-down and arrowing past Di Gennaro for the equaliser. Udinese were on top for a while but as the game drew to an end it was Inter who repeatedly went close to snatching a winner: Candido rattled the bar and Terrani brought a save out of Giannakopoulos a minute after making his entrance, while Garritano and Romanò also had chances. After three minutes of added time the ref called an end to proceedings and Inter were confirmed as Group B winners, meaning they will go into the quarter-final draw for the Final Eight in Gubbio as one of the four seeds.
