APPIANO GENTILE - Italy coach Cesare Prandelli was a guest today at the Centro
Sportivo Angelo Moratti in Appiano Gentile and he spoke to Inter Channel after
watching Inter's training session. Here we present his statements:
Coach Prandelli, what kind of atmosphere did you encounter in Appiano Gentile?
"Apart from the cold... [smiling] a fine one, with a lot of enthusiasm
from the players. This is what should always be present with a football team
and it's what I've seen here today."
What did you and coach Andrea Stramaccioni talk about?
"I complimented Stramaccioni because it hasn't changed the way he is. He
transmits enthusiasm and confidence precisely because he has remained himself.
I really had to give him my most sincere congratulations."
Can we say that the European Championship is historically a very difficult
competition for Italy, perhaps even more difficult – as regards the average
level of the participants – than a World Cup because of the quality of the
individual teams?
"This is true. If we look at the last three finals of the World Cup there
have been three European teams. It will be a very, very difficult
competition."
Inter also provides many players to the national youth teams. How important is
that for you?
"The youth sectors are essential areas, but especially the teams that
manage to project and provide the right mentality to these lads. It seems to me
that lately many teams, like Inter, are doing a really good job."
