RANIERI: "FINALLY, FOOTBALL AND NOTHING ELSE"

"The less said about Calciopoli the better. It seems strange in Italy that we're only talking about football"

APPIANO GENTILE - As the questions passed from one subject to the next, from Juventus to Inter, it was inevitable there would be one about Calciopoli. Something has changed in recent years, however, because as the journalists at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti noted, the subject has received little coverage in the build-up to this game. A fact that no doubt pleases Claudio Ranieri: "That was one of Italian football's worst moments so the less said about it the better. It seems strange in Italy that we're only talking about football... now we're doing that."

The coach also answered questions about the chances of Fredy Guarin making the squad for the game ("we'll see after training"), on Ricardo Alvarez's fitness ("trying to protect his knee he's picked up a slight calf strain") and which of the players on the opposition's team is likely to cause most problems: "If I take Pirlo out of their team and put him in mine, it might help a bit... [smiling]"

After Diego Milito's two missed penalties recently, against Chievo Verona and Atalanta, the Nerazzurri coach was asked by reporters who will take the penalty if Inter are awarded one against Juventus: "First I have to see who I put in the starting line-up, then I can decide the penalty taker. If both Milito and Pazzini were on the pitch? As I've always said, it's up to them to decide who will take it, but our first choice penalty taker is Milito."
