RANIERI: "INTER, THE BEACON OF ITALIAN FOOTBALL"

"Everyone talks about the treble now, about what this team has done: they symbolise an era"

APPIANO GENTILE - This is not an easy year for Inter but, as Claudio Ranieri recalled during his meeting with journalists the day before Juventus v Inter, "Everyone talks about the treble now, about what Inter have done, and that's why there's more quality in this team than in any other. Inter symbolise an era, they set down a marker. They might be having a difficult year now but Inter remain the beacon of Italian football."

Could Juventus v Inter be a chance to give some meaning to the Nerazzurri's season? "You can find everything, in football you get people who are used to challenging for the top targets and once they can't be reached they take their foot off the pedal. But I've always stressed the importance of being professional. We're paid until the last penny of our contracts so we must give 100% every day, which is what the club and the fans expect from us."

The experts rate Ranieri's chance of remaining in the Inter dugout next year as minimal so could the Juventus game be an opportunity to increase those chances? Ranieri's answer was the same as that given to the media in previous meetings: "I always try to give everything and I'm sure that this team can do well tomorrow evening and in the upcoming games."
