ZANETTI: "FANS, WE UNDERSTAND BUT STICK WITH US"

"No one is sadder or more disappointed than we are at the moment; we must be more united than ever"

MILAN - "This evening, like in our recent games, we were unable to break the deadlock and then the opposition scored with their first chance; that makes everything more difficult," were Javier Zanetti's words as he spoke to Inter Channel after the match.

"When you go through tough spells like this," the captain explained, "you can't express yourself the way you want to, but it's up to us to regroup and get going again after all these defeats. We weren't used to losing so often, but we'll have to accept our responsibility and try to move on. We've got the Champions League now, which is something different, and we must react then get back to picking up the points in the league. Everything's going the wrong way this year but we have to try and dig ourselves out of this situation. We must be strong because you get moments like this in football - times when everything runs smoothly and others when nothing does. I think we have to be even more united than ever. Ranieri? We all have to stick together. President Moratti? Of course he's upset because we're not giving him what he expects and deserves. What action will the club take? I don't know, I think we should all remain calm and take our own responsibility. But you get no time in football: on Wednesday we have another very important game."

Finally, Zanetti had a few words for the Nerazzurri fans: "No one is sadder or more disappointed than we are; we understand the fans' disappointment but we need them. I know what our fans are like, they've always been close to us when times have been tough and I hope they do that again now."
