ZINGONIA - A converted penalty by Duncan wasn't enough for Inter's Primavera side to return from their trip to Atalanta with all three points. The first half ended goalless despite a glut of chances for the Nerazzurri, but the Ghanaian midfielder fired home from the spot after Candido was pulled back in the area in the 57th minute. However, Atalanta substitute Cais was to have a huge impact on the encounter after replacing Esposito in the 63rd minute. First he took advantage of a mix-up between defender Bianchetti and goalkeeper Di Gennaro to level (72). Then, after Bianchetti's injury had reduced Inter to ten men - Stramaccioni having used up his last substitute moments earlier - Cais headed home a second (77). Inter piled forward seeking an equaliser and Atalanta proved lethal on the counter-attack as Cais completed his hat-trick in the 90th minute.
The Nerazzurri Primavera will now turn their attentions to Wednesday's NextGen Series quarter-final against Sporting in Lisbon.
