AC MILAN V INTER: 190TH MEETING SINCE 1929

Ahead of kick-off, Football Data provide some stats on the history of the derby and on this season's Serie A

MILAN - (Football Data, Florence) The derby is just eight hours away now. Awaiting the kick-off we look back at the history of this fixture since the Italian top flight was unified in 1929/30 and some of the numbers from the current season.

Since 1929 there have been 189 competitive matches (excluding the 45-minute games in summer tournaments) between AC Milan and Inter, with 66 Nerazzurri victories (32 at home and 34 away), 64 Rossoneri wins (33 at home and 29 away) and 59 draws (27 with AC Milan at home and 32 with Inter at home). The last draw in the Derby della Madonnina was on 24 October 2004 (AC Milan 0-0 Inter). In total the Rossoneri (251) have netted two more goals than Inter (249). The Nerazzurri have scored 122 goals "away".

The match official at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in San Siro this evening will be Daniele Orsato, overseeing his 84th Serie A fixture since making his debut in December 2006. It is his 10th time in charge of an AC Milan game, his 16th with Inter.

AC Milan, who are currently on a 12-match unbeaten run, have been awarded more penalties (6) than any other team in the 2011/12 Serie A campaign. In contrast, Inter - along with Cesena - have had the most spot kicks given against them (6).

AC Milan and Inter are two of the teams to have got the most different names on the score sheet in the first half of the season: 13 for the Rossoneri and 14 (the highest number in Serie A) for the Nerazzurri. Ranieri's team have also scored more goals through substitutes (5 compared to their cousins' 4).

Inter haven't conceded a goal away from home in 337 minutes and have scored in each of their last 14 away games.

If Diego Milito plays today he will celebrate his 200th career appearance with Italian clubs: 102 in Serie A, 59 in Serie B, 12 in Coppa Italia, 21 in European cup competitions and 5 in other tournaments.
