Has Favalli recovered after the Super Cup match against Juventus?
"Yes, he has recovered."
How is Solari?
"He is another player who has always done well. Against Shakhtar in Milan the other evening it was a strange situation and playing in an empty stadium affected everyone. You can't manage to give much in a situation like that. You have to get used to it and train for it."
Is it difficult to play Veron and Pizarro together in midfield?
"Absolutely not. If we could have trained together for forty days and tried new solutions in the matches played in England, Pizarro and Veron could probably play together from now, but this will probably happen in the coming weeks. With those two together in midfield we have only played against Elfsborg in Sweden. Playing with those two changes the tactical module a bit, so we will have to test it in training. Will we see them together tomorrow? We have to look at Veron's physical condition because he played 120 minutes in Turin and he had cramp a quarter of an hour before the end against Shakhtar."
Is Adriano still the focal point in attack or does he need to recover?
"Adriano is a focal point, though last Saturday night he had a few stomach problems and wasn't that well. He has recovered now."
Isn't Cristiano Zanetti being a bit wasted at the moment?
(Mancini smiles) "Last year you criticised me because I often changed formation, now I'm not changing it and you're criticising me all the same... Cristiano is an important player for us and there will be matches when he will play four or five games in a row and someone else will be out of the team. Cristiano knows the respect I have for him and that we need him, but there will be so many matches this season and we're only at the third one."
In attack you have four players with different characteristics. How do you choose who will partner Adriano if Martins doesn't make it?
"Recoba is more similar to Martins for his characteristics. So it's more likely he will start if Martins doesn't make it. The fact that all four have different characteristics gives me the chance to field them indifferently and this is important."
Does Julio Cesar give you enough security?
"Both my goalkeepers give me security, and Toldo played the Super Cup and we won. Toldo has a physical problem at the moment and isn't that well. Will we be here every Saturday talking about which goalkeeper will play? It depends on you (journalists)... At the moment the choice has been made and the situation is defined."
