MILAN - Here we go! The third #DerbyMilano of the 2017-18 season is just around the corner. The evening kick-off on Sunday 4th March at San Siro will be Inter’s week 27 Serie A TIM fixture (20:45 CET), coming into the game following their 2-0 triumph over Benevento last Saturday, secured thanks to goals from Milan Skriniar and Andrea Ranocchia. As for Milan, their spirits are high following their mid-week penalty shoot-out success over Lazio in the TIM Cup semi-final, while they’re also enjoying an eight-game unbeaten streak in the league (six wins and two draws).
Inter were at ‘home’ during this season’s earlier derby played out on October 15th, with Luciano Spalletti’s side winning 3-2 thanks to a magnificent hat-trick from Mauro Icardi. Milan have since changed coach, with Gennaro Gattuso taking the place of Vincenzo Montella following his November sacking. There are just seven points splitting Inter and Milan in the league standings, with the Rossoneri sitting in seventh on 44 points - made up 13 wins, five draws and eight defeats (37 goals scored, 30 conceded).
Following the derby in October, the two teams faced off once again on December 27th in the TIM quarter-finals. Following a hard-fought 120 minutes in the rain, Milan got the win thanks to a 104th-minute goal from Patrick Cutrone, successfully eliminating the Nerazzurri from the competition.
The match will be refereed by Marco Di Bello from Brindisi. His assistants will be Giallatini and Dobosz, while Dover will be the Fourth Official. VAR operators: Orsato and Schenone.
