MILAN - Having been a guest on Monday’s episode of 'Tiki Taka', Javier Zanetti was unsurprisingly quizzed on all things Inter, firstly discussing the 16-game unbeaten streak secured by Luciano Spalletti’s side this season: “I am not surprised by the results that we’ve picked up so far because I was expecting coach Spalletti to have a great input. Luciano looks at the smallest of details and he evaluated the group while also giving them confidence. The squad is determined, the lads believe that they can achieve their objective of Champions League football and let’s hope to secure this as soon as possible.”
As for Saturday evening’s draw against Juventus, Zanetti said: “They are always a tough opponent to play against. We did well during the first half, while they were stronger in the second. I think that the draw was the right result in the end.” When responding to questions linking Inter with the Scudetto, the Nerazzurri vice-president said: “It is difficult to say when there are so many strong and well-equipped teams with so few points between them.”
Lastly, Zanetti heaped praise on captain Mauro Icardi, who has so far bagged 16 goals in 16 matches: “I’ve known Mauro for a long time, he is a great professional. He is proving his worth both on and off the field and we are delighted with how he is doing. He cares a lot about the captain’s armband and he and his family are really happy in Milan.”
