MILAN – The Nerazzurri’s third opponents on the 2017 Summer Tour will be Bayern Munich, coached by Carlo Ancelotti. Inter will face the German side in the International Champions Cup at the National Stadium in Singapore, on Thursday 27 July.
Since being founded in 1900, the Bavarians have won 27 league titles, 18 domestic cups, 5 German super cups, 6 league cups, 5 Champions League titles, 1 UEFA Cup, 1 Cup Winners’ Cup, 1 European Super Cup, 2 Intercontinental Cups, and 1 Club World Cup.
Bayern are a true European football power and last season won their fifth consecutive Bundesliga title and lifted the German super cup following a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.
Inter and Bayern have played out several memorable games, none more so for the Nerazzurri than the 2010 Champions League final in Madrid. The following year, Goran Pandev capped a thrilling comeback in Munich, taking Inter to the Champions League quarter-finals. Back in 1988, Nicola Berti ran almost the full length of the pitch to score against the Germans in a UEFA Cup clash.
Lothar Matthaus, Andreas Brehme, Jurgen Klinsmann, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Lucio are among those players to have represented both teams.
