MILAN – In today’s #ThrowbackThursday moment, we go back in time to 8 June 1978 when the Nerazzurri won the Coppa Italia for the second time in history.
The competition’s format back then included two consecutive group stages, both of which Inter topped. The final was a straight knockout over one leg against Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Maurizio Restelli gave the Neapolitans the lead after six minutes before Spillo Altobelli, in his first year as an Inter player, equalised shortly afterwards. Graziano Bini then got the winner on the stroke of full-time to hand the trophy to Eugenio Bersellini’s men.
