UDINE - The Nerazzurri are back in action after the Christmas break, as they travel to Udinese on Sunday (kick-off 12:30). We look ahead to the match with the help of some numbers from our friends at Opta.
The sides meet for the 87th time in Serie A. Inter lead by 41 wins to 20. The Nerazzurri have emerged victorious in six of their last eight trips to the Stadio Friuli, including the last three. Udinese have, however, beaten Inter in their last two lunchtime meetings.
Mauro Icardi, Serie A's leading scorer with 14 goals, is chasing new records. After becoming the youngest player in history to reach 70 goals in Serie A, his 15th strike of the campaign would see him join the likes of Vieri and Ibrahimovic, the only players to score at least 15 goals in Italy's top flight for three seasons running since 1994/95.
Eder has scored more goals against the team from Friuli than any other side (six, one of which came for Inter), while Marcelo Brozovic has discovered a new lease of life since Pioli took over. He's scored four goals - three in Serie A and one in the Europa League - under the new coach.
Samir Handanovic enjoyed a lengthy spell at Udinese, whereas the hosts' Felipe and Faraoni are both ex-Inter.
There's nothing to split Stefano Pioli and Luigi Delneri from their past meetings. Felipe Melo is suspended, while Marcelo Brozovic and Joao Miranda are one booking away from suspension.
