MILAN - Andrea Pinamonti admitted he was lost for words after making his Nerazzurri debut against Sparta Prague at the Stadio Meazza on Thursday.
The 17-year-old striker, who has scored 13 goals in 11 games for the Primavera so far this season, was speaking to Sky Sport Italia after playing his part in Inter's 2-1 win.
"San Siro is my favourite stadium because I'm an Inter fan. I can't put into words what it felt like to play out there tonight. I'm thrilled the coach and the club believe in me.
"I'll try to take any chances that come my way. A centre forward has to score goals but he also has to work for the team. I'm pleased with my performance today, even though I didn't score. You can't win the game on your own. I like doing my bit for the team and I'll keep trying to improve.”
The youngster then revealed the support he's received from his senior team-mates.
“Rodrigo is a fantastic player but then they all are. They've been helping me so much. They were giving me words of advice with me from the moment we stepped on the bus to when the match ended.
“Mauro Icardi is my role model and I'm lucky to have him as my team-mate. I try to pick up as much as I can from him.”
Finally, Pinamonti had a word to say about his Primavera team-mate Axel Bakayoko, who also made his first-team debut against Sparta.
“I'm happy for him. He's a great player and he's doing really well. We have an excellent understanding too."
