ICARDI RUES SECOND-HALF COLLAPSE

The Nerazzurri striker was talking to Inter Channel: "No excuses, a second half to forget. Hard work and team spirit will help us bounce back"

BE'ER SHEVA – Inter captain Mauro Icardi believes the players need to get their heads down and work hard in order to bounce back from tonight's setback in Israel.

Speaking to Inter Channel, the Argentine forward, who opened the scoring for the Nerazzurri, broke down the contest against Hapoel Be'er Sheva.

"Inter were good at the start," Icardi said. "We wanted to perform well and we managed to do so for 45 minutes. The second half was one to forget, however. We played without character.

"What we saw tonight often happens: as soon as we sit deep behind the ball, mentally we create problems for ourselves and then we concede goals. We have to start again with good team spirit and hard work at the training ground. However, we cannot look for excuses, like it's nearly the winter break or that results haven't been on our side of late.

"If we play as a team, we can do well," the Nerazzurri captain concluded. "We should have won this game after the first half we had. Now let's go home, get our heads down, keep quiet and work hard."
