GENOA – Davide Santon has called on Inter to move on quickly after they were beaten 1-0 by Sampdoria at Marassi on Sunday night.
"This is a tough defeat," admitted Santon after the game. "You can’t win one game then take three steps backwards. We need to look at our mistakes and focus on our next game, which is vital.
"We’re really disappointed about tonight but we have to move on because we have to get through our Europa League group at all costs."
Santon also bemoaned Inter’s mentality in Genoa: "You have to earn your luck. Our mentality was all wrong because we gave so many passes away to our opponents. We created lots of chances in the second half and controlled the game, but we made it hard for ourselves by falling behind in the first half.
"We hit the crossbar twice and Mauro could have scored, but we can’t dwell on that. We understand what the coach is trying to teach us – he explains everything very clearly during the week. We need to adapt, play where we need to and focus on helping the team."
