VECCHI RUES NERAZZURRI "NAIVETY"

Read what the Primavera coach had to say following Roma v Inter: "We lacked a spark to open up the game, then we lost shape"

ROMEStefano Vecchi was left wondering what could have been in tonight's Super Cup encounter, as mistakes from his Primavera boys handed victory to the Giallorossi.

"Roma did well to exploit our naive errors," the Inter U19 coach said after the final whistle. "The first two goals cost us the match, then we lost shape trying to get back into it and were punished.

"Andrea Pinamonti had a chance to break the deadlock but didn't take it. When you play against certain opposition and you make these mistakes, there's always the chance that you'll lose.

"We didn't play with enough quality and lacked a spark to unlock the game. They gave us nothing from their mistakes but we gifted them the first two goals. It was our fault.

“We're really disappointed right now, but we know there isn't a four-goal difference between us and them. We played way below our potential. Now we need to work hard and move forward. The Inter youth academy cannot afford these kinds of performances so we'll move forward with those who deserve to pull on the shirt and give it their all during the week.

"Our defence is not the issue because we've conceded hardly any goals in the league, nor is it to do with our formation because we set up in the right way based on the players we have.”
