"SAN SIRO IS VITALLY IMPORTANT TO INTER"

Erick Thohir and Steven Zhang underline the club's intentions to renovate the Meazza, to provide the fans with an ultramodern stadium and take the team back to the top of world football

MILAN - "A new San Siro is vitally important to Inter. I've been president of this club for almost three years and have always firmly believed that renovating San Siro – our home – is a crucial step that Inter must take if we're to become one of the world's top ten clubs," president Erick Thohir told inter.it.

"Our interest in San Siro now has the strong, determined backing of Suning too and this was explained to the mayor, Giuseppe Sala, at the meeting held while chairman Zhang and his son Steven were last in Milan. Inter want to remain at San Siro and invest significantly in it. We're happy that we're on exactly the same wavelength as the mayor, in that we both see the new San Siro as a hugely important project for Milan and Milanese football."

Inter board member Steven Zhang added: "Our plans for San Siro will help boost an important area of the city by offering facilities and entertainment 365 days a year. It will also turn the stadium into an even bigger attraction and make the matchday experience even more engaging for fans of all ages.

"We want San Siro to become the stadium of Inter fans' dreams – even more so than it is already. Having an ultramodern facility is crucial for the club so that we can make the fans feel as comfortable as possible and there contribute to improving results on the pitch.

"Inter is a long-term investment for us, one we have great belief in, and San Siro is one of the cornerstones of our plans to get Inter back up among the best in the world."
