DE BOER: "OUR ATTITUDE WAS ALL WRONG"

"We weren’t focused. We improved after the break but it wasn’t enough," admitted the Nerazzurri coach after Inter’s 3-1 loss at Sparta Prague

PRAGUE Frank de Boer refused to mince his words after his side were beaten 3-1 by Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday night.

De Boer bemoaned his side’s attitude and lack of focus during the loss, which leaves Inter on zero points after two games in the competition.

"In football, attitude is always the most important thing," began De Boer after the game. "The second goal we conceded was unacceptable – we weren’t concentrating. We improved after the break, but it was not enough for what I want to see from this team. We might have been able to come back, but the game changed again after the red card."

The Dutch coach admitted that the Nerazzurri need to improve their passing game after a series of stray passes at the Generali Arena.

"We made too many mistakes in our build-up play, giving easy balls away to our opponents. We need to get a lot better in that regard, otherwise we’re going to find every match difficult."

De Boer also quashed suggestions the side was giving greater importance to their Serie A campaign, defending his substitutions in Prague.

"Gnoukouri hasn’t played a lot of games and we need to save him because he might come in useful on Sunday. Candreva has played almost every game in both Serie A and the Europa League. “We have a quality squad and were able to bring on Perisic and Icardi, so it’s not a case of prioritising one competition over another."
