D’AMBROSIO: "FULLY FOCUSED ON THE EUROPA LEAGUE"

The Inter defender shared some thoughts on the side’s upcoming games, speaking on the fringes of a Junior TIM Cup event

MILANDanilo D’Ambrosio said a few words at an event which brought the 2015/16 Junior Tim Cup to a close and saw the opening of a new football pitch, the Campo dell’Amicizia, in Milan.

"I’m very proud to be here. Playing at the San Siro is always exciting, but being able to share in this experience with the kids is just as wonderful," he said.

The Nerazzurri defender was also asked about Sunday’s clash with Juventus, a game he says is unlike any other.

"We have to concentrate on our own game, but of course a player like Higuain can make all the difference," he added.

D’Ambrosio was keen to focus attention on Thursday’s European tie: "We have a big challenge ahead of us. We are desperate to win that game because we want to progress in the Europa League."

As for Inter’s start to the season, he commented: "We have a new manager, we are looking to make best use of his guidance, as quickly as we can. We have the squad, the club had a great transfer window.

"We’re only at the third game, there is a whole season ahead of us. We all hope to get the results we want, as a collective."

The defender also played down curiosity about the shape of Inter’s back-line: "Whether it’s three or four at the back, it doesn’t make a difference. The most important thing is to produce the goods on the day."

The boys have started the campaign after a busy pre-season schedule, which D’Ambrosio says is normal for top sides.

"It’s up to us to make sure we’re ready. We want to get into the Champions League and, to get there, our focus must be on the team and not on ourselves as individuals. We need to help one another."
