ICARDI: "GOALS ARE ONLY IMPORTANT IF YOU WIN"

"We created lots of chances but we couldn’t get the win. My future? I want to stay here, in this stadium and with these fans," declared the Inter captain

MILAN Mauro Icardi rued the fact that his first goal of the season was not enough to secure all three points for Inter as he spoke to the media after the Nerazzurri’s 1-1 draw with Palermo on Sunday evening.

"Goals aren’t important when you don’t win," the Inter captain told Mediaset Premium. "We had so many chances today but the ball just wouldn’t go in."

Icardi was quick to dismiss suggestions that Inter’s fitness levels were proving an issue.

"It’s nearly September – that’s no excuse. We had a great week working with the coach and we tried to apply what we looked at in training this evening but sadly we couldn’t get the win," said Icardi.

The Argentine striker also addressed the rumours around his future.

"I’ve not heard what Zanetti’s said but I see him every day and we’re good friends. I’m calm – I’ve reached an agreement with the club. As I’ve always said, I want to stay here in this stadium and with these fans," declared Icardi.
