CANDREVA CALLS FOR INTER IMPROVEMENT

"I’m here to provide assists for my team-mates and win matches. It didn’t happen tonight, but we’ll work hard to improve," said Candreva after the Palermo draw

MILAN – Antonio Candreva believes Inter must improve after they were held by Palermo on the Italian’s San Siro debut.

"I want to thank the fans, but I was hoping for a happier debut. We’ll be better after the international break," said Candreva after the match. “I’m here to provide assists for my team-mates and win football matches. It didn’t happen tonight, but we’ll work hard to improve."

Candreva refused to point to Palermo’s defensive style as an excuse for the disappointing result.

"Their tactics caused us problems but all teams that come to San Siro are going to be tough to break down and it’s up to us to overcome that. It would have been nice to go off for international duty with a win, because we have a packed schedule when we come back," declared the Italian.

Candreva admitted that it hadn’t been the easiest of starts for Inter, but stressed that the Nerazzurri will get better.

"We’ve not been working together for long and we haven’t had much time, so we need to get to grips with what we need to do as soon as possible. It’s not been an easy start but we’re professionals and if we work hard we’ll make the step up.

"We’re going to become a great side. In order to improve we need to play together as much as possible."
